5. “I.e.” and “e.g.” mean the same thing.

That is wrong E.G means for example, and I.E. means that is. So think of it like this e.g.= examples and i.e. = clarification.

   For example:

     I.E.- Eating a pancake without any syrup is like playing leap frog with a unicorn, i.e. a very bad idea.

     E.G.- I love eating meat whose ingredients are a mystery, e.g. bologna, hot dogs, and spam.
